On behalf of our pupils,staff and Board of Management , I would like to welcome you to our school website. Drumeela NS, located on the Leitrim-Cavan borders a co-educational Catholic School with a current enrolment of 25 wonderful pupils.
Drumeela NS is a school where every person is a valued member of a happy, vibrant learning community. In Drumeela NS, we aim to provide a well structured, caring and positive learning environment with plenty of fun and adventure along the way!
Our website will highlight the many events and activities taking place in our school . With a permanent staff of three energetic, creative and dedicated teachers and a secretary and caretaker, who have the school community spirit at the heart of all they do, the holistic development of our talented and committed pupils is always fostered.
Drumeela NS has a very supportive parent body and our school prides itself on the team element of pupils, parents, staff and Board of Management working together.

This school received a grant in 2021 to implement initiatives aimed at addressing the digital divide and support our learners at risk of educational disadvantage as a consequence, as part of the Irish National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), a project under the Recovery and Resilience Facility funded by the European Union through NextGenerationEU. This funding was used to purchase iPads, which were distributed to children at risk of missing out on their education due to lack of digital access at home. By ensuring that every child in the school had access to an iPad if they did not already have one, we were able to maintain consistent engagement with teaching and learning. This enabled all students to connect with their teachers daily via platforms such as Zoom or Seesaw, ensuring continuity of education during periods of remote learning.

Welcome back to all the children in Drumeela NS!
Thank you to Brendan for maintaining our school grounds over the summer holidays and having such a lovely, bright school to return to.
Thank you also to Teresa, Gene and Clara O’Kelly for the beautiful Jungle Gym that they have kindly donated to Drumeela NS and Scallywags Preschool in honour of our past pupil Dessie O’Kelly. Thank you to Noel Lee, Joe McGovern and all the parents and children who helped put the jungle gym together. It was a real Meitheal and showed the fantastic community spirit of Drumeela parish. The children are delighted to have such a wonderful play space to spend their break times in.
We are covering the theme of All About Me in the Junior Room. The girls and boys have had lots of fun playing in the Optician and the Home Corner in our role play area. We have been learning about our body parts, looking at baby photos to see how much we’ve grown and making maps of our local area, Drumeela.
We at Drumeela were very sad to say goodbye to our 3 wonderful 6th Class students, Brian, Sara and Liva. They have been an absolute pleasure to have in our school and have added so much to our school with their many talents and their calm, kind nature and bright personalities. We had a graduation ceremony with their families and the school community. Liva, Sara and Brian planted 3 native trees in our school forest that Mairead, our secretary, won for the school from Coill na nÓg. We are very thankful to the Kiernan and Luksevecia families who have contributed so much to school events over the last number years. They will be really missed at all of our school events. We wish Sara, Brian and Liva the best of luck in Secondary School where we’re sure they will have continued success.
Justin Tyrell from Soccer Star Coaching came to Drumeela on the 19th of June for our last day of school. He taught the children some soccer skills and brought some of his inflatable games for the children to try out. We had a lot of fun, despite the rain. Thank you Justin!
We had lots of fun with Newtowngore NS in the Explorium in Dublin.
To wrap up our Creative Clusters project, the Junior Rooms from Drumeela NS, Newtowngore NS and 1st Class from Scoil Chlann Naofa, Ballinamore, travelled to Leitrim School of Art to make some clay bowls. Thank you to Denise in Leitrim School of Art who has created wonderful projects for our schools this year.
